Gareth.. I hope you didn’t lock the cats inside the room where you flea bombed it. If you did, you are lucky the cats survived. The bomb is meant for animals and humans to be out of the room.

Do not use Hartz! Applied this once to one of my cats and she within seconds started yowling in pain and scurrying around. Immediately grabbed her and started finding it off in the kitchen sink with dish soap. Vet said she was lucky to survive and that the product has been shown to cause severe neural problems and destroys the cats nerves and has been linked to numerous deaths.

So I have flea bites on me. I didn’t see them in my house. I have a fair bit. I washed my cats in dish soap, vacuumed with baking soda, washed all blankets and bedding in the house and just went out and got the pet store version of advantage drops for back of the neck and sprayed all couches and curtains with a premise spray. How long will this take to work? I’ve also brushed my cats with a flea comb as I did end up noticing them. They were deep in their fur so I didn’t notice at all until I got bites on myself. Strangely enough tho my kids haven’t been bitten but I feel like I’m still getting bit even after cleaning for 3 days. Help!

Should you wait to give flea pills if dogs are inside animals until they will be outside for a bit?

Jennifer A Ponds, PLEASE do not wait! I have inside kitties. I have gotten fleas. I hope this might be helpful for others also. I got this info for all: You all might know. But I didn’t. Flea eggs can remain dormant for up to one year. So we have a year long “Time Release” of eggs! UGH! For every one flea you see. There are 100 x that. During four days it can add up to 80,000 eggs. 99% of the fleas are in your house NOT on your pet. I know right? Gross. This is what they say to do: #1 treat your house FIRST with bombs etc. #2 Treat pets. #3 Treat house AGAIN two weeks AFTER treating pets. Because by then the flea cocoons will be hatched to fleas and can be killed. They say that when in the cocoons they can NOT be killed. And keep up to date. The cycle is like > female flea > Eggs > Cocoons > Larvae crawling out of the cocoons > Flea. I hope this is of some help. Peace and love. Pam Lutes Moore.

Hi guys, I’m in the process of moving into my new home which previously had tenants with a cat. Within the first few days I had new (cream colored carpets) fitted. Since then I and my son have been seriously bitten (me, every inch of my body including my shoulders and neck!). It seems that the only rooms that are flea ridden are the ones with the new carpets! So far I’ve hoovered regularly and sprayed with Johnsons flea spray twice in each room. Each time I go to the house I immediately see 3-4 tiny fleas attached to my socks in each room which I scotch tape and kill. I’ve set up a detergent plate with lamp over but in the new house only found one adult floating. Unfortunately, the buggers have migrated to my old house where I’ve also had to spray and set up the detergent plate test – I’ve had 6 ‘baby’ fleas in my bowl on the first night. So I’m dealing with two houses and haven’t budgeted for this. My major question here is: if I only find such small amounts attaching to me when I enter the new property, and such small amounts in the detergent dishes, am I winning the battle? Your replies will be so very gratefully appreciated.

I don’t have a dog or cat but looked after my daughters dog for a week, about a month ago. Started to notice bites on me and then spotted very tiny fleas on my leg, have treated with spray but am so worried that I will not clear this up. I’m frantically cleaning everywhere. If the dog does not stay here again can they carry on being a problem?

    Hi,
I noticed that one of my dogs was scratching a lot more than normal and checked her. I found four fleas and used tea tree oil spray to keep an infestation at bay, as I have a 3month old infant in the home as well as another dog. I got so paranoid that I used a homeopathic shampoo remedy with tea tree oil, lemon juice and regular shampoo. After doing this I only found 1 flea on her but was still worried. My mother bought us Hartz Ultra guard, just to be on the safe side for my son. I just applied them and want to know how soon it will work. I have already bombed our apartment and do not want to get re-infested.

I’m looking after a dog for a friend. She came with fleas. I have bathed her using good quality flea shampoo and put Advantage flea treatment on her which was prescribed for her. She is still jumping. What do I do?

Good to know about Hartz. I heard read bad things about it before and just recently found a few fleas (but LOTS of bloody flea dirt) on one of my 3 cats. Therefore I bought Pet Armor drops to put on all of them, since someone said it’s cheaper but has the same ingredients as Frontline. I also put some flea powder on my couch and rug, left it set for a bit, then vacuumed. I wish I would have known about using baking powder instead, because the flea powder kind of stinks (Perfumey chemical smell). Hope all of this works ASAP, I don’t know how fleas got in here in the first place, as the cats NEVER go out and this started in the late fall! But I guess all it takes is a couple of them, and BAM! Yikes!
