Judy and jazz
Hi! Just stopping by to learn more. Jazz is my 11 year old sheltie. He has been battling hot spots all summer. I took him to the vet and was told he had fleas. But looking at the pictures of flea dirt it would appear to be very mild. I treated him and use neosporine on his hot spots. No advise there from the vet.
Now that it’s winter jazz has started scratching. So I’ve watched him and combed through his long hair. I found several fleas. I feel like the monkeys at the zoo. We have tried the flea collar, drops down the back and bathing.
Our house is mostly hardwood floors but low pile carpet in the living room dining area. So the shark pet vacuum is now used daily.
Yesterday I tried a vinegar water bath since I worry about using chemicals too much. I check for fleas, added vinegar to his water and will continue this treatment. He’s going to hate me for all of this treatment.
I itch just thinking about fleas but we have not seen the bites pictured on the website for humans. Yep, I just started scratching thinking about it.
With my grandchildren coming next week I don’t want to bomb with chemicals. Hopefully continuing this regime will end our problem soon.
